Pursuant to Article 7 of the Laws of the State of New York, every dog, over the age of four months, owned or harbored in New York State for longer than 30 days must be licensed in the town, city, or village where the dog resides.
Note, the Dog License is what is typically needed to register for local dog parks.
New Dog Licenses can be obtained by completing the
online application form. Before you begin, be sure you have your dog’s rabies information and proof of spay or neuter. Each licensed dog is assigned a Town identification number and issued a metal identification tag, which is to be attached to the dog's collar. This will be mailed to you along with your Dog’s License once payment has been successfully completed.
